'Animated Angels'~Disney's 'Belle' Inspired Hair/Makeup for Evening
For this installment of the Animated Angels series, I opted to create a 'prom' friendly evening look inspired by Disney's 'Belle'. 'Beauty and the Beast' is an interesting retelling of the original fairy tale since it takes extra effort to make the heroine a 'feminist' of sorts. She refuses to be persuaded by the popular handsome brute about town, and instead falls for the beastly fellow who takes her captive. Of course, as we all know, the 'beast' has a soft underbelly and is not so bad as he seems. We quickly forget how awful he was only ten short years before, when he turned away that old beggar lady, and focus instead on the gruff gentility he now portrays.
For this look, I created a soft partial updo, reminiscent of Belle's hairstyle in the ballroom scene of the film, dressing it up with a simple embellished headband I found at the local beauty supply shop. What I REALLY wanted, was one of those double or triple headbands-the ones that call to mind a Grecian style. But alas, one wasn't to be found. So this was kind of a default accessory. I paired the hairstyle with some shimmery dramatic gold eyes and rust colored lips. For my German audience, I am including not only a product list below, but also a written tutorial. Enjoy!

Ashley

1.Part hair, straight out of the shower, in the center.
2.Section off the hair at the front, forward of the ear.
3.Pin Curl these sections towards the face.
Go to Bed. :)
The Next Day:
1. Set the rest of your hair in medium to small hot rollers, aiming downward. Wait to cool.
The Styling:
1.Brush out all curls after releasing set.
2.Softly pull up the sides and use a bobby pin to hold. Keep volume in the front and top, as you do so.
3. Spray to set.
4. The excess hair behind the bobby pins is gently wound around the fingers and pinned in place, creating a sort of 'tiara' at the crown.
5. Softly brush the rest of the hair under and add an accessory, if you wish.
6. Spray to set.
